A Brief Analysis of the Differences between Multi Wedge Belts and Ordinary Triangular Belts
The characteristics of a multi ribbed belt are: very thin and wide in width. It has greater advantages than the triangular belt. Because the belt is thinner, it experiences less pressure during operation, resulting in a corresponding decrease in heat generation. The wider belt design allows for a larger contact area with the pulley, and can transmit more power than a V-belt. The main characteristics of a multi ribbed belt are as follows:

2. The transmission system has a compact structure. Under the same transmission power, the space occupied by the transmission device is 25% less than that of the ordinary V-belt.
3. The belt is thin and flexible, making it more suitable for transmission with small pulley diameters (smaller than traditional triangular belt pulleys), and can also transmit multiple wheels. More suitable for high-speed transmission, with a belt speed of up to 40m/s; Small vibration amplitude, less heat generation, and smoother operation.
4. It has the characteristics of heat resistance, oil resistance, and wear resistance, with small elongation during use and long service life.
Ordinary V-belts are widely used and can be found in many mechanical equipment. Compared to other types of equipment, they have lower costs, are simple, have lower technical content, do not require high precision for belt grooves, have poor power transmission capabilities, and have a short lifespan. Nowadays, trucks are rarely equipped with this type of ordinary V-belt.
Although modern transmission belts are becoming more advanced, it does not mean that they will not fail. Generally, belt failures are mostly caused by neglect of maintenance, such as slipping and wear caused by too little tension, and early damage to the belt caused by too much tension. So the maintenance of the belt is also crucial in the later stage.
