Maintenance of Belts and Pulleys

July 21, 2025

(1) Transmission belts should not be folded or sharply bent; the minimum bending diameter of timing belts is as shown in the above table.

(2) During storage and transportation, avoid direct sunlight, rain and snow, and prevent contact with substances that affect product performance such as acids, alkalis, organic solvents and water vapor.

(3) Store at room temperature, generally between -20~+50℃, and keep at least 1 meter away from heat sources.

(4) During storage, prevent deformation due to excessive weight, do not stack by folding or pressing, and do not place the belt directly on the ground; instead, hang the belt on a rack or place it flat on a shelf.

(5) Finished pulleys should be stored and transported in a dry and ventilated environment, and anti-rust treatment should be applied to finished pulleys.

(6) Belt transmission devices should be equipped with protective covers, and ensure ventilation and sewage discharge.

(7) Regular belt inspection: Check the drive belt at least once a week for tooth wear, surface cracks or aging (e.g., hardening, stickiness), and edge fraying or damage. Replace promptly if excessive tooth wear, through cracks or severe aging are found to avoid transmission failures due to belt failure.

(8) Keep pulleys clean and lubricated: Clean pulleys thoroughly once a month to remove oil, dust and debris from pulley grooves, preventing accelerated wear from debris between belt and pulleys. For rotating parts like pulley shafts and bearings, add appropriate lubricants regularly as per equipment instructions to ensure smooth rotation and reduce overheating and wear from excessive friction.
